Home Edition Rules & Guidelines

Step 1: Prepare Your Room

  • Use a private, quiet room.
  • Clear your desk completely.
  • Have a chair and solid work surface.
  • Close all doors.
  • Cover any windows.

Step 2: Setup Your Computer

  • Use one screen only (laptop or desktop).
  • Connect to a power source.
  • Close all programs except the test window.
  • Test your webcam and microphone.
  • Make sure your main door is visible through your camera lens.
  • Laptop: A mouse and web camera are allowed.
  • Desktop: Mouse, keyboard, web camera, external speakers, and microphone are allowed.

Step 3 : Personal Items Check

  • Allowed: Wedding ring, religious headwear (ears visible)
  • Remove: All other jewelry, watches, and accessories
  • If you have any additional phones apart from the one being used for proctoring, turn them off and place them behind you.
  • Do not use headphones or earbuds.

Optional: One whiteboard OR one blank sheet of paper inside a clear sheet protector, an erasable marker, and an eraser/cloth to erase your writing.

Step 4: Review Test Rules

  • Stay visible on camera.
  • Keep your hands visible.
  • Stay seated.
  • No talking or reading aloud except during the Speaking section.
  • No taking breaks.
  • No one may enter the room.

  • The proctor will guide you through a virtual room scan.
    You will need to show:
    • All the walls and corners of the room.
    • Under your desk and your work surface.
    • Your entire workspace.
